I love, love, love, love Mo Willems' books. He can do no wrong for me, and The Duckling Gets A Cookie!? is another winner. Although the Pigeon books are great for read-a-louds, the joy of the Pigeon books is the look on Pigeon's face--frustration, longing, conniving. A Pigeon book doesn't necessarily break new ground in children's picture books, but it is consistently good. And, really, what is wrong with more of a good thing?
